'11 Minutes 12 Seconds'
Royal British Sculptors Society
150cm x 40cm
London 2003

I became very interested in creating pieces where the process of recording time was the central element. I transformed a cassette player and tape which allowed me to play a continuous loop of tape. Then created a 150cm x 40cm grid made from small wheels found in tapes and threaded the carbon filament around all the wheels. The total length of the filament was around 62m which equals 11m 12 seconds of playing time. This piece was silent to allow the moving parts to create a mechanical noise which illustrated the pattern that was evolving on the wall.
