'105 Seconds'
Studio Voltaire Gallery
3m x 15cm x 6cm
London. 2002

This was an early experiment into using tape cassettes. I was particularly interested in the loop of tape and the time that it represented: in this case 105 seconds. The tape machine was stripped down and hung at a height of 3m and the tape was constantly running with the filament just touching the ground. Due to the alteration i had made to the tape, one length of filament was constantly being added, while the other was being taken away. This allowed the tape to dance on the floor, it would constantly alter its shape, especially if someone walked by. The installation was silent to allow all the focus onto the movement.

Sound has been played throughout a week, the result was that the tape picked up dust and scratches which distorted the sound gradually.
