Mesh and analogue tape
30cm x 30cm x 30cm
2005

This sculpture was made from a combination of steel mesh and audiotape. After I made the cube out of mesh I weaved 176 metres of analogue tape through the gaps in the meshing. Each stretch of tape, as it travelled from one side of the cube to the other, was twisted once in the same direction, with the result that one segment of the tape would apparently disappear when it was seen from the side. What is more, as you walked around the sculpture, this twist gave the impression that the tape was traveling up and down while you moved.
