I have created many large installations in nylon because the visibility and nature of the material allows the form to have a presence which casts our relationship to the work into doubt.
We are so accustomed to accommodating the force of gravity in our everyday existence that we usually give it little thought. An installation that defies weight and manages to put it in a different context alters this force and questions it. The structures must be dealt with very consciously and carefully, then disorientation can be a joyful pleasure.
