Robert Currie - London based artist 

The ‘drawing machine’ stems from my interest in the illustration of invisible energy forces. It consists of a pen, tied by masking tape to a motor with a ball on the end. Banal, everyday materials are transformed into unrecognisable and sophisticated devices which create drawings of exquisite detail, impossible to create by hand. Each drawing is unique, the composition and intensity of the resulting marks fluctuate due to the construction of the machine; even a minor alteration such as lowering the mechanism by a couple of millimeters can cause the most unexpected, fascinating results. ‘It is a drawing machine that I created and have no control over without ever touching the pen or paper.’
